WHERE TO stay IN HONG KONG: affordable Hostels as well as Guesthouses
perhaps it’s just me however one thing I have observed in my three years of being a travel blog writer is that the better you get to huge cities, the pricier accommodations get. Of program there are exceptions; a lot of huge cities harbor some “best kept secrets”. Not only are they few, they likewise get offered out quick particularly during height seasons. Fortunately, there are aggregator sites that make hotel hunting much less of a chore. web sites like Expedia, Agoda, HostelWorld, as well as Booking.com compile listings of hotels, hostels, inns, as well as guesthouses that you can select from. But based on personal experience, it’s always a struggle to discover economical spaces in major metropolitan areas like Singapore, Macau, and, of course, Hong Kong.
The lively as well as contemporary city of Hong Kong is one of the busiest as well as the most established in Asia in terms of trade, business, as well as tourism. A special Administrative region of China, Hong Kong consists of the Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, the new Territories, as well as 200 outlying islands. While these areas are linked impressively by the city’s expansive train as well as bus networks, it is crucial to be familiar with its geography. Hong Kong Island is where the central area, the political as well as economic center, is located. There are likewise a number of affordable guesthouses as well as hostels right here as well as it is house to lots of vacationer attractions including the Victoria Peak.
Kowloon is where you will discover a lot of museums, markets, as well as the Avenue of Stars. The new Territories, north of Kowloon, is dotted with wetland parks as well as temples. Lantau Island, one of the lots of outlying islands, takes pride in Ngong Ping (Giant Buddha as well as Po Lin Monastery) as well as Hong Kong Disneyland.
Kowloon as well as Hong Kong Islands have the most accommodations. If you’re planning on including Macau to your itinerary, they likewise have a ferry terminal each: the Hong Kong Macau Ferry terminal (Connaught road Central, Sheung Wan area in Hong Kong Island) as well as Hong Kong China Ferry terminal (Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon).
I have been to Hong Kong three times in the past two years as well as have stayed at three different guesthouses. right here are a few of my evaluations as well as comments, with info about them.

Tai San Guesthouse
Tai San Guesthouse has lots of units around Kowloon however I have only tried their Burlington Branch in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. It is handled by a Filipina, whom I have fondly called Ate Yolly. The spaces are smaller that you would expect as well as the bathrooms even smaller however you get what you pay for. We booked a space for two (but considering that we were a group of three, we had an additional futon) for only HKD 500 per night. There are so lots of excellent things about this location aside from the cost. The place is exceptional — bus stations as well as MTR terminal within the block. It is likewise incredibly clean all the damn time. Ate Yolly likewise exchanges currencies for a extremely great rate.

Comfort Hostel HK
Comfort Hostek HK is ideal smack in the middle of a buying district! It is likewise surrounded by MTR terminals so getting to major attractions from right here is a breeze. The only issue we had, though, was that we struggled discovering it when we arrived. The person at the ground level reception might not speak a word in English.
We spent two nights at comfort Hostel HK last February as well as it was a pleasurable experience. The personnel were practical as well as warm. The space we got was small, too, however the shower room was absolutely bigger than the usual. The space we got was really one of the spare spaces being rented out in that apartment or condo unit. The owners of the system were friendly so it was not truly a problem. At the typical area (lobby), there were computers that guests may use. No wi-fi, though.
